Doc Knox Features Beautiful Bungalow on Broadway

Dear Doc Knox:

There is a wonderfully preserved arts-and-crafts house on N. Broadway Avenue. It's a large green house that sits immediately north of a similar, but much smaller and less detailed house that is also green. This arts-and-crafts house of interest is located immediately next to (on the nothern side) of Centerpoint Baptist Church (2909 N. Broadway) and located sort of across from the Wendy's (3000 N. Broadway). Read the whole MetroPulse story…

Temple House

I know they typically matched the side lights that are still intact and in fairly good condition and can wing it but we've not winged anything yet and I'd love to nail this one down.

Does anyone have any old photographs who happened to live in… Continue

Spring

I haven't been very active on this site, but someone has suggested that it is time to "start something."

One thought I have had more than once - How many people want to compost their fruit and vegetable waste, but don't want one of those huge plastic cubes taking up space int heir yard? Might it be possible to start a neighborhood compost spot? Some of the issues would be - where? how many composters? spread out or centrally located? how to prevent mis-use?

Just a thought. I would… Continue

GAY STREET ABOUT 1913

Hey all you Gay Street / downtown fans. Here's a photo that has never been published before, probably never seen. I bought the original glass negative and copied it with three other negatives from around 1913. The Colonial Hotel is on the right. I think on review closely, it might be some sort of parade.… Continue
